For over 30 years TregoED influenced thousands of young students to understand the value of critical thinking skills and rational process
TregoED was a nonprofit founded by Ben Tregoe, who had not only a lifelong admiration, respect and appreciation for education and educators but a desire to give them tools for additional success. TregoED served students, staff, and leaders of K12 schools and districts from 1993-2024. By tailoring the foundational processes of Situation Appraisal, Problem Analysis, Decision Analysis, and Potential Problem Analysis for the realm of education, TregoED created instructional materials for both students and staff members. TregoED brought these thinking tools directly to over 80,000 students and almost 30,000 education leaders in more than 400 school districts across the US and Canada. In 2015, TregoED began to focus its work on helping educators learn the processes and apply them to some of the most challenging and pivotal issues that districts face, including: raising student achievement, budget/school funding issues, closing schools, redistricting/changing attendance boundaries, teacher recruitment and retention, increasing attendance and graduation rates, better serving underserved populations, etc.
It is with great pride that we acknowledge that over the 31 years of TregoED’s existence, tens of millions of students were positively affected by issues that TregoED helped school districts address. In fact, in just 2023, alone, the districts and agencies we worked with collectively served four million students.
Kepner-Tregoe made this important work possible through its in-kind support and licensing of TregoED for work in education and through the assistance and leadership provided by many KT people over the years. In addition, several KT clients helped support work with schools in various ways – especially in the important first years of TregoED’s history. TregoED is grateful for all this support and for that of its many donors over the years – and for the opportunity to work with the dedicated, capable and committed educators who serve the children in our schools.
Sadly, TregoED has made the decision to close its doors at the end of 2024. While our organization is no more, we are confident that the impact of our work will live on through the excellent problem solving and decision making of the dedicated educators with whom we were privileged to work.
