The term "Manufacturing Excellence" is one that permeates many industries - and none more than the Automotive industry. Throughout the Automotive sector there is general agreement that manufacturing excellence (whether it is called that, or one of the many other terms that mean the same thing) is a critical strategy for survival and success in today's competitive market. 

But like so many initiatives, manufacturing excellence is not without obvious pitfalls and hidden dangers. As automotive manufacturers and suppliers deal with rapidly changing market conditions, technology advances, consumer preferences, and economic factors they need to maintain their focus on high-quality, high-volume output. And more often than not, the push to achieve this leads companies to stumble over one or more of eleven key barriers to success.
